SAMSON OCEANFRONT PARK IMPROVEMENTS
CITY ITB NO. 15-05-01
To All Bidders:
Bidders for the above referenced project shall take note of the following changes,
additions, deletions, clarifications, etc. to the Plans and Specifications, which in
accordance with the Contract Documents shall become a part of and have
precedence over anything shown or described otherwise.
Questions/Clarifications:
1. Please provide verification on the diameter of the piles. Per the soil report,
the piles should be 14” and your plans are requesting 14” and 16”. Please
provide a capacity chart from Arehna advising for both types of piles.
Refer to the attached report.
2. Sheet L1.3 – Please clarify the Skateboard Deterrent Details.
The Skateboard deterrent is a custom piece detailed on sheet L1.3 (See
Detail 1 and 4). The contractor is required to submit drawings for approval
by the City and Landscape Architect prior to fabrication and installation.
3. Please clarify the circular ends of the playground seatwall detail.
Typical detail #2 shown on sheet S-3 may applied. Refer
to Architectural/Civil plans for general dimensions.
4. What is the thickness of the pile cap FTG (32”)?
The thickness of the 3pc shown on sheet s-7 is 32". Depth refers to
thickness.
5. What is the height of the steel columns?
The top elevation of roof slab is indicated on the plans. For column
extension above the slab, please refer to architectural drawings.

6. The area north of the temp construction wall sheet C-4 has no grade
elevations. Will fill need to be imported for this area?
For estimating purposes, bidders should assume a flat grade with an
average elevation of 7.0.
7. Detail 6 L1.3 shows 4” of concrete under playground safety surface. Does
this slab receive wire mesh?
Yes, it is to be included in the unit price for item #47 and #49 playground
foundations.
8. Cover sheet states size of the park is 90,952. Please confirm.
This is correct.
9. There is a bench shown on sheet AS 101 please provide specifications.
The bench is a concrete bench, specifications are provided on AS -101. The
height of the bench is 16” to match the landscape solid seating.
10. Bid item #2 if for is for removal of concrete pavement, is this for concrete
sidewalks? If so please check quantity of 170sy?
This item is for removal of 206 linear feet of existing concrete sidewalk along
the east side of Collins Avenue bordering the park.
11. Is this a unit price contract?
Yes.
12. Bid item # 20 has no quantity listed.
Quantity for item #20 is 2,800 SY of gravel pave is for beach maintenance
access.
13. The bid form lists unit estimated quantity, unit cost & extended cost, some
bid items quantities are listed some are not. Please clarify how we handle
this.
The contractor is to perform their own quantity take-offs for the items not
provided and show them in the bid tabulation sheet. The bidder is further
advised that all quantities shown are estimates only and generally
representative of the work that will be required by the Contractor. The
Contractor shall be responsible for verifying all quantities prior to bid. Any

discrepancies identified between the estimated quantities stated in the bid
form and that determined by the bidder shall be brought to the attention of
the City prior to bid. The Contractor shall ensure that ALL work for the
proposed improvements is completed for the TOTAL price submitted on th is
Bid Form.
14. Would it be possible to supply the breakdown proposal sheet in Excel
form?
The bid form has been provided.
15. Is there an estimated or budget for this project?
No. There is no estimated or established budget for this project.
16. We have received price quotation for the playground equipment and
surfaces from Bliss Products and Services (800-248-2547). When we called
to confirm they are the representative of the specified manufacturer they
told us that they are representative of Landscape Structures but they are
providing us with equal products. We contacted Landscape Structures Inc.
they told us that Bliss is not their representative.
Our concern is that an unauthorized company is distributing quotations
prices that are of the wrong products and in turn this may manipulate the
contractor's bid prices.
The ONLY Florida Authorized Representative for the playground equipment
specified on the plans is Rep Services Inc. located at 581 Technology Park,
Suite 1009, Lake Mary FL 32746-7127; Telephone Number 561-353-0980.
Products provided by unauthorized representatives will not be accepted .
