Addendum No. 1
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH
Continuing Professional Architectural and Engineering Services - Firms Only
CITY RFQ NO. 12-04-02
To All Bidders:
Bidders for the above-referenced project shall take note of the following changes,
additions, deletions, clarifications, etc. to the Plans and Specifications, which in
accordance with the Contract Documents shall become a part of and have precedence
over anything shown or described otherwise.
Section 3.1 "CONSULTANT RESPONSIBILITIES" shall be amended to include the
following three items: Construction Management, Structural Engineering, and
MEP Engineering.
Under Construction Management, the activities may include, but shall not be
limited to:
• Construction supervision for adherence to contract documents, plans, and
specifications as produced by the City or for the City.
• Provide and maintain a construction schedule using software such as
Primavera, SureTrak, or MS-Project
• Provide periodic reports of findings in writing
• Ensure that the contractor has proper insurances.
• Assist in the management of submittals, shop drawings, and RFI's.
• Provide consultation services for the management of change orders
including pricing.
• Use Project Management tools and software to assist in managing the
overall budget of the project.
• Assist with inspections

• Inspect and review the project to monitor compliance with the Building Code,
City Ordinances, safety codes, and other applicable regulations.
• Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff,
workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
• Assist in obtaining all necessary permits and licenses.
• Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design
professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures,
complaints, and construction problems.
• Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that
proper procedures are being carried out.
Under Structural Engineering, the activities may include, but shall not be limited
to:
• Provide structural plans and specifications for any given project.
• Provide structural calculations to satisfy the authorities having jurisdiction.
• Provide consultation services to the Building Department as needed which
may include, but not be limited to, inspections and plans review as may be
directed by the building official.
• Provide inspections and associated reports.
• Use structural engineering modeling software such as RAM Advanse,
Enercalc or Revit.
Under MEP Engineering, the activities may include, but shall not be limited to:
• Provide mechanical, electrical, and pluming plans and specifications for any
given project. These may include plans for fire alarm, fire sprinkler,
generator design, and low voltage design such as computer cabling and
security.
• Provide MEP calculations to satisfy the authorities having jurisdiction. These
design calculations include, but are not limited to hydraulic calculations,
energy and load calculations, and electrical calculations.
• Provide consultation services for LEED implementation and energy efficiency
strategies
• Provide consultation services to the Building Department as needed which
may include, but not be limited to, inspections and plans review as may be
directed by the building official.

• Provide inspections and associated reports.
• Use structural MEP engineering software such as Energy Gauge, Trane
Trace, or Revit.
Section 4.2.1.6 shall be added to read as follows:
4.2.1.6 CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
• The selected Individuals shall be individuals licensed as a General
Contractor with the State of Florida. All professional services shall be
performed under the direction of a professional registered with the State of
Florida and qualified in the specific field (i.e. Professional Architect [PA] etc.).
• The selected individuals shall have been in business and have a minimum of
five (5) years experience in providing general contracting/construction
management services in the State of Florida.
• The firm must identify a Team Project Manager who must be licensed in the
State of Florida as a General Contractor and have a minimum of fifteen (15)
years experience in construction management and have served as project
manager on similar projects on a minimum of seven (7) previous occasions
within the State of Florida.
• Team members and sub-consultants must be licensed in the State of Florida
and have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in providing
construction management services.
Section 4.2.1.6 shall be added to read as follows:
4.2.1.7 STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
• The selected Individuals shall be individuals licensed as a Structural
Professional Engineer with the State of Florida. All professional services
shall be performed under the direction of a professional registered with the
State of Florida and qualified in the specific field (i.e. Structural Engineering
[PE] etc.).
• The selected individuals shall have been in business and have a minimum of
ten (10) years experience in providing structural engineering services in the
State of Florida.
• The firm must identify a Team Project Manager who must be licensed in the
State of Florida as a Structural Engineer and have a minimum of ten (10)
years experience in structural engineering and have served as engineer of
record on similar projects on a minimum of seven (5) previous occasions
within the State of Florida.

and have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in providing structural
engineering services.
4.2.1.8 MEP ENGINEER
• The selected Individuals shall be individuals licensed as an MEP
Professional Engineer with the State of Florida. All professional services
shall be performed under the direction of a professional registered with the
State of Florida and qualified in the specific field.
• The selected individuals shall have been in business and have a minimum of
ten (10) years experience in providing structural engineering services in the
State of Florida.
• The firm must identify a Team Project Manager who must be licensed in the
State of Florida as an MEP Engineer and have a minimum of ten (10) years
experience in MEP engineering and have served as engineer of record on
similar projects on a minimum of seven (5) previous occasions within the
State of Florida.
• Team members and sub-consultants must be licensed in the State of Florida
and have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in providing MEP
engineering services.
