A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, DECLARING
1 S ft Pt C Ilt L.\O N AS VICE MAYOR,EFFECTIVE
ON DECEMBER 6,2012; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS,the Mayor has the authority to nominate the Vice Mayor,with confirmation by
the City Commission; and
WHEREAS,§2.2(b)of the City Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida,provides
that a Vice Mayor will be appointed at the first Commission meeting after the 30th day following the
day of the General City Election; and
WHEREAS,Vice Mayor Lewis J.Thaler has termed out,with his term officially ending 30
days after the Election, December 6, 2012.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Declaration of Vice Mayor. That Is Pt AC. A st-i 0 3 shall be Vice Mayor
effective on December 6, 2012, pursuant to §2.2(b) of the City of Sunny Isles Beach Municipal
Charter.
Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of November 2012.

RE: Appointment of Vice Mayor.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the attached Resolution appointing a Vice Mayor with an effective date of
December 6, 2012,be adopted.
REASONS:
The City's Charter provides that a Vice Mayor will be appointed at the first Commission
meeting after the 30th day following the day of the General Election. Vice Mayor Lewis
J. Thaler has termed out, with his term officially ending 30 days after the Election, on
December 6, 2012. Mayor Edelcup has the authority to nominate the Vice Mayor, with
confirmation by the City Commission.
