RESOLUTION NO. 2017- 210
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, DECLARING

FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,the Mayor has the authority to nominate the Vice Mayor,with confirmation by
the City Commission; and
WHEREAS,the City Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida,provides that there
shall be a Vice Mayor who shall be appointed in any calendar year in which there is no regular City
Election at the first Commission meeting in the month of November of such year.
. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Declaration of Vice Mayor. That 1N%4-act-DMA/kJ shall be Vice Mayor
commencing immediately,pursuant to §2.2(b)of the City of Sunny Isles Beach Municipal Charter.
Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective u..n adoption.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AN
UPDATE TO THE TITLE VI PROGRAM PLAN FOR THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH COMMUNITY SHUTTLE SERVICE,
ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.

WHEREAS, in 2009 the City received federal funds from Miami-Dade County through
the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for the purchase of two (2) shuttle buses for the
SIB Community Shuttle Service; and
WHEREAS, one of the requirements of this funding was for the City to establish a Title
VI Program and procedures that comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil
Rights Restoration Act of 1987 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA
Compliance); and
WHEREAS, on April 16, 2015 via Resolution No. 2015-2393 the City Commission
approved the Title VI Program Plan for the City of Sunny Isles Beach Community Shuttle Service;
and

WHEREAS, in order to maintain the federal funding received, Miami-Dade County
requires for the Title VI Policy to be updated every 3 years; and
is
WHEREAS, the City is also required to implement a Title VI Policy that meets federal
requirements as part of the local agency program certification with the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) in order to receive federal funds for projects from FDOT; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to approve an update to the Title VI Program Plan for the
City of Sunny Isles Beach Community Shuttle Service, attached here as Exhibit"A".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF F THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
c, Section 1. Approval of Updates to the Title VI Program Plan. The City Commission hereby
ri approves the Updates to the Title VI Program Plan for the City of Sunny Isles Beach Community
Shuttle Service, attached hereto as Exhibit "A".

Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things
°i necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective .on .•option.

RE: Appointment of Vice Mayor
RECOMMENDATION:
This resolution is presented for your consideration.
REASONS:
The City's Charter provides that a Vice Mayor will be appointed at the
first Commission meeting after the 30th day following the day of the
General Election. Mayor Scholl has the authority to nominate the Vice
Mayor,with confirmation by the City Commission.
