T7SA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AN IN-HIND
DONATION TO THE NORTH MIAMI BEACH LITTLE LEAGUE IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($9,000.00)
FOR USE OF THE CHIEF FRED MAAS BASEBALL FIELD TO
PROVIDE A RECREATIONAL BASEBALL PROGRAM FOR
CALENDAR YEAR 2018; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION:
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,the City of Sunny Isles Beach is committed to providing a variety of quality
recreational opportunities to our community; and
WHEREAS, the North Miami Beach Little League and Sunny Isles Beach are dedicated
to activities that benefit the children of the Sunny Isles Beach community; and
WHEREAS, the North Miami Beach Little League organization has requested use of the
Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field to provide a recreational baseball program including the annual
Challenger Program which is a short off-season baseball program that provides the opportunity
for disabled players to partner with volunteer players to play baseball in a fun and safe
environment; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is dedicated to supporting these activities
with an in-kind donation for the use of the field, as well as City personnel to assist in these sport
activities, in an amount not to exceed Nine Thousand Dollars ($9,000.00) based on their
requested schedule for calendar year 2018.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Donation. The City Commission hereby approves the in-kind
donation to the North Miami Beach Little League for use of the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field
located at Pelican Community Park, and City personnel assisting in these sport activities, in an
amount not to exceed Nine Thousand Dollars ($9,000.00) based on their requested schedule for
calendar year 2018.
Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RE: In-Kind Donation to North Miami Beach Little League
RECOMMENDATION:
40 This item is presented for your consideration.
REASONS:
North Miami Beach Little League provides a quality baseball program
for the children of Sunny Isles Beach and the surrounding communities.
Through field usage donations by the Cities of Sunny Isles Beach and
North Miami Beach, they can keep the player costs lower using
volunteer coaches and umpires. The City wishes to continue this
relationship with an In-Kind Donation of free use of the Chief Fred
Maas Baseball Field at Pelican Community Park through a rental fee
waiver Not to Exceed a value of$9,000 for calendar year 2018.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
FUNDING SOURCE:
No funding is required for approval of this item. The result may be
minimal lost revenue by potential paying renters.
