A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF THREE (3) COMPUTER SERVERS WITH
VMWARE VSPHERE ESXI LICENSING FROM DELL FOR
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED FORTY-THREE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED
FIFTY-TWO DOLLARS AND TWENTY CENTS ($43,452.20),
ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the existing Police Department infrastructure is outdate, has reched its end
of life and is no longer cost effective to maintain; and
WHEREAS, staff wishes to purchase three (3) computer servers with VMWare vSphere
ESXi licensing from Dell for the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, staff has requested a quote from Dell, a leader in the computer industry, for
said computer servers; and
WHEREAS, Dell has provided a quote under the State of Florida Contract#250-000-09-
1/Dell Contract #32ABH for the purchase of three (3) computer servers with VMWare vSphere
ESXi licensing, in a total amount not to exceed Forty-Three Thousand Four Hundred Fifty-Two
Dollars and Twenty Cents ($43,452.20), attached hereto as Exhibit"A"; and
WHEREAS, funding for this equipment will be from Federal Forfeiture Funds (DOJ) 60-
521-5643.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorize the Purchase. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase of
three (3) computer servers with VMWare vSphere ESXi licensing from Dell, in an amount not to
exceed Forty-Three Thousand Four Hundred Fifty-Two Dollars and Twenty Cents ($43,452.20),
attached hereto as Exhibit"A".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of December 2012.

RE: Approval to expend up to $43,452.20 for the purchase of three (3)
Computer Servers with VMWare vSphere ESXi licensing for the
police department.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution
authorizing the City Manager to purchase three (3) Computer Servers with
VMWare vSphere ESXi licensing for the police department.
REASONS:
The existing police department infrastructure is outdated, has reached its end of
life and is no longer cost effective to maintain
