HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2012-2009 RESOLUTION NO. 2012- 200al A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA ESTABLISHING GUIDELINES FOR THE CONTINUED PARTICIPATION OF RETIRED ELECTED OFFICIALS IN THE AFFAIRS OF THE CITY; PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a number of elected officials are now retired from offices due to term limits; and WHEREAS, the continuing participation of retired elected officials is beneficial to the City; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to extend certain benefits to facilitate the participation of retired Elected Officials. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Retired Elected Officials. The City Manager or designee is hereby instructed to provide retired elected officials with benefits attached as Exhibit "A" to facilitate their continued participation with the City. Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. Edelcup. Mayor DATE: December 20, 2012 RE: Approving Guidelines for Continued Service for Retired Elected Officials RECOMMENDATION: The attached Resolution is recommended for approval. REASONS: A number of elected officials are now retired from office due to term limits. The time has come for the City to establish some limited guidelines for their continued participation in the affairs of the City. To continue their participation, I am recommending that the City Commission approve the following guidelines: (1)Authorize the issuance of City's identification card with the notation"Retired" on the card; (2) Invitation for two (2)to selected events sponsored by the City; (3)A parking pass for municipal parking lots or areas; and (4) Copy of Agendas of the City Commission meeting upon request.
