HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2018-2802 RESOLUTION NO. 2018 - 7,1(02- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CITY'S DRAINAGE SYSTEM, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS (S300,000.00), ATTACHED HERETO, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE SAME FORM, AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT, PROVIDED IT IS FIRST REVIEWED AS TO FORM AND LEGAL SUFFICIENCY BY THE CITY ATTORNEY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY ATTORNEY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City will be performing improvements to its drainage system, including a maintenance program to alleviate flooding caused by rainfall, seasonal tides, and storm events; and WHEREAS, the City has applied for a grant with the Florida Department of Transportation in an amount of Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) to partially fund the improvements; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve a grant agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation to partially fund improvements to the City's drainage system, in the amount not to exceed Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00), attached hereto, in substantially the same form, as Exhibit "A", provided said agreement is first reviewed as to form and legal sufficiency by the City Attorney. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Grant Agreement. The City Commission hereby approves a grant agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation to partially fund improvements to the City's drainage system, in the amount not to exceed Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00), attached hereto, in substantially the same form, as Exhibit "A". Section 2. Authority to Enter into a Grant Agreement. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a grant agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation, provided said Agreement is first approved as to form and legal sufficiency by the City Attorney. Section 3. Authorization of City Manager and City Attorney. The City Manager and the City Attorney are hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 4. Matos,Assistant to the City Manager for Special Projects DATE: 3/15/2018 Grant Agreement with Florida Department of RE: Transportation for Sunny Isles Beach Drainage Improvements for$300,000.00 RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission approve this grant agreement for the acceptance of $300,000 for drainage improvements in the vicinity of Gwen Margolis Park. REASONS: This drainage project involves a maintenance program that will alleviate flooding caused by rainfall, seasonal tides and storm events along North Bay Road, Atlantic Boulevard, 178th Drive and the side streets in between. Project scope includes well development, installation of 18 inch PVC liner casing in each well, clearing of outfalls, and conversion of gravity wells to injection wells as needed. FUNDING SOURCE: $300,000 grant from Florida Department of Transportation $300,000 local match from City Capital Improvements Program (300- 5-5410-465000-83002) ATTACHMENTS: 127
