A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE
PURCHASE OF A 2018 AEROELITE SHUTTLE BUS FROM
ELDORADO NATIONAL (KANSAS) INC., IN AN AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-SEVEN THOUSAND
FIVE HUNDRED SIXTY-SEVEN DOLLARS ($137,567.00),
ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Community Shuttle Bus program provides
service to residents and visitors seven (7) days per week and desires to add to the City's fleet an
additional shuttle bus to provide effective and efficient service to our residents; and
WHEREAS, ElDorado National (Kansas) Inc. ("ElDorado") has submitted a quote for a
2018 Aeroelite Shuttle Bus, that will seat twenty-four (24) passengers plus two wheelchair
stations, and it is equipped with a wheelchair door and step wells, in an amount not to exceed
One Hundred Thirty-Seven Thousand Five Hundred Sixty-Seven Dollars ($137,567.00), through
a HGAC Buy, an Interlocal Contract for Cooperative Purchasing; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to purchase the bus from ElDorado, in an amount not to
exceed One Hundred Thirty-Seven Thousand Five Hundred Sixty-Seven Dollars ($137,567.00),
attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization of Purchase. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase
of one (1) shuttle bus from ElDorado National (Kansas) Inc., in an amount not to exceed One
Hundred Thirty-Seven Thousand Five Hundred Sixty-Seven Dollars ($137,567.00), attached
hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective ponadoption.

RE: Purchase of a Shuttle Bus from Eldorado National
(Kansas) Inc.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission consider purchasing a
new shuttle bus from Eldorado National (Kansas) Inc. for$137,567.00.
This bus would replace Shuttle Bus #1030, which was purchased in
2010, and has been in use for 8 years now.
REASONS:
The City offers free shuttle service to the community 7 days a week,
through three different lines. In addition, we offer transportation to
Mount Sinai several days a week (outside of the regular shuttle service)
and transportation for various events and activities (such as Cultural
Event Trips, movie nights, concerts, etc.).
In order to meet the needs of the shuttle routes, as well as these
additional services, and minimize any breaks in service due to bus
maintenance, it is recommended that we maintain a fleet of five (5)
reliable shuttle buses.
Shuttle Bus #1030 (currently in our fleet)was purchased in 2010, and is
reaching the end of its useful life span (typically 7 years). This new bus
would allow for us to take Bus #1030 out of circulation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

With the purchase of this new bus, our fleet would consist of six (6)total
buses, three (3)of which will be 6 years old.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are budgeted for and available in 110-6-5440-464100.
