HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2018-2799 RESOLUTION NO. 2018- 2-7ciet A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NOS. 2017-2750 AND 2018-2790 TO REVISE THE COMPOSITION OF THE PUBLIC ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE (`PAAC") FROM FIVE (5) MEMBERS TO SEVEN.(7) MEMBERS; PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF THE LIAISON POSITION FOR THE PAAC; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Section 74-8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sunny Isles Beach provides that there shall be as many standing committees of the City Commission as the Mayor or City Commission deems necessary and that the City Commission may establish or terminate such committees from time to time; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 2017-2750, adopted on October 19, 2017, and Resolution No. 2018-2790, adopted on February 15, 2018, the City Commission created the PAAC and nominated members; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to expand the membership of the PAAC from five (5) members to seven(7) members; and WHEREAS, the City Commission has designated a member of the City Commission to serve as a liaison to the PAAC; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to amend Resolution Nos. 2017-2750 and 2018-2790 to increase the composition of the PAAC and to define the responsibilities of the liaison. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing recital paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and the same are hereby made part of this Resolution. Section 2. Expansion of Composition of Public Arts Advisory Committee: The City Commission hereby expands the composition of the Public Arts Advisory Committee from five (5) members to seven (7) members. Section 3. Responsibilities of Liaison. The City Commission hereby provides the City Commission's liaison with the following responsibilities: (i) assist with the Cultural Master Plan ("CMP") Consultant and the Office of the City Manager to develop programing initiatives for the PAAC; and (ii) provide on as needed basis status report to the City Commission as to the programming activities of the PAAC and other related activities ; and Amending Reso 2017-2750 to Revise Composition of PAAC Page 1 of 2 I (iii) assist with the Office of the City Manager and CMP Consultant to develop a budget for programming initiatives for the PAAC. Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage. PASSED and ADOPTED on this 10day of Marc 2018. Reasons: By Resolution No. 2017-2750, adopted on October 19, 2017, and Resolution No. 2018-2790 adopted on February 15, 2018, the City Commission created the Public Arts Advisory Committee ('PAAC") and nominated members. The purpose of this Resolution is to amend the composition of the PAAC to expand the membership from five (5) members to seven (7) members. The Resolution also defines the role of the City Commission's liaison to the PAAC. Specifically, the liaison will work closely with the CMP Consultant and the Office of the City Manager to develop the budget for the PAAC and its programming activities.
