RE: Authorization to Negotiate and Enter into an Agreement
with Graphplex for City Signage
RECOMMENDATION:
This item is presented for your consideration.
REASONS:
In 2012 and 2013, GraphPlex was awarded bids to fabricate and
install decorative and monument signs throughout the City. In the
aftermath of Hurricane Irma, staff identified various signs that were
damaged and in need of repairs. Additionally, staff has determined
that other landmarks in the city require either a decorative or a one-of-
a-kind monument sign. Once again, GraphPlex have expressed the
desire and ability to provide these services to the City. Therefore, staff
is requesting authorization to allow the City Manager to negotiate and
enter into an agreement with GraphPlex to perform repairs and to
fabricate and install new signs throughout the city.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Due to the desire to maintain the same signage as it is throughout the
city, staff is also requesting to waive the competitive bidding
requirements of Chapter 62 of the City Code.
