A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE CITY MANAGER'S NOMINATION OF CAPTAIN
DWIGHT SNYDER FOR THE POSITION OF CHIEF
POLICE, PURSUANT TO SECTION 3.2 (10) OF THE
CITY'S CHARTER, EFFECTIVE JULY 23, 2018;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL
THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 3.2 (10) of the Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach provides
that the City Manager shall be responsible for the hiring or termination of the Chief of Police
with the consent of the majority of the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, Police Chief Fred Maas has declared his retirement from the City of Sunny
Isles Beach Police Department effective July 23, 2018; and
WHEREAS, after careful consideration the City Manager has nominated Police Captain
Dwight Snyder to become the Chief of Police for the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve the City Manager's nomination for
Chief of Police.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Nomination. The City Commission hereby approves the City
Manager's nomination of Captain Dwight Snyder for Chief of Police, pursuant to Section 3.2
(10) of the City Charter.
Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do
all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
