A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH,FLORIDA,ACCEPTING THE UNOFFICIAL
RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 6, 2018 GENERAL ELECTIONS
FOR COMMISSION SEAT 02, PENDING THE OFFICIAL
CERTIFICATION FROM THE MIAMI-DADE CANVASSING
BOARD. DECLARING GEORGE "BUD" SCHOLL AS MAYOR,
WHO WAS AUTOMATICALLY ELECTED, HAVING NO
OPPONENTS; DECLARING JENIFFER VISCARRA AS
COMMISSIONER, SEAT 04, WHO WAS AUTOMATICALLY
ELECTED, HAVING NO OPPONENTS; INSTALLATION OF NEW
OFFICERS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 26-6 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sunny Isles
Beach, candidates for the office of Mayor or City Commissioner shall qualify with the City Clerk
no earlier than 9:00 a.m. on the 84th day and no later than 4:00 p.m. on the 81st day prior to the
date of the general election; and
WHEREAS,the City of Sunny Isles Beach held its qualifying period for Office of the Mayor,
Commission Seat 02,and Commission Seat 04 from 9:00 a.m.on Tuesday,August 14,2018 through
4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018;
WHEREAS,during the qualifying period, George"Bud"Scholl duly qualified for Mayor with
no opponents and Jeniffer Viscarra duly qualified for Commission Seat 04 with no opponents; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 26-13 (G) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sunny
Isles Beach, no election for Mayor or any Commission seat shall be required in any election if
there is only one duly qualified candidate for Mayor or for any Commission seat. That candidate
shall be considered elected automatically; and
WHEREAS, a result of having no opponents, George "Bud" Scholl was automatically re-
elected as Mayor, and Jeniffer Viscarra was automatically elected Commissioner Seat 04; and
WHEREAS, on November 6, 2018, the City of Sunny Isles Beach held a General Election for
Commission Seat 02 with the following duly qualified candidates: David Y. Grossman, Felix
Kizhner, and Alex Lama; and
WHEREAS, the unofficial results of the General Election were as follows:
RESIDENTIAL AREA COMMISSIONER -- SEAT 02, the whole numbers of votes cast was
4,812, of which number:
DAVID Y. GROSSMAN received 1,699 votes
FELIX KIZHNER received 952 votes
ALEX LAMA received 2,163 votes

WHEREAS,no candidate for Commission Seat 02 received more than 50%of the total number
of ballots cast to be duly elected to the Commission as required by the City Charter and Section 26-
13 (D)of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,a run-off election will be held on
Tuesday, December 4, 2018 to determine a Commissioner for Seat 02; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission wishes to declare George"Bud" Scholl as Mayor of Sunny
Isles Beach and Jeniffer Viscarra as Commissioner Seat 04.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Acceptance of Unofficial Results of General Election. The City Commission of the
City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby accepts the unofficial results of the General Election held on
November 8, 2016, pending official certification from the Miami-Dade Canvassing Board, as
follows:
RESIDENTIAL AREA COMMISSIONER -- SEAT 02, the whole numbers of votes cast was
4,812, of which number:
DAVID Y. GROSSMAN received 1,699 votes
FELIX KIZHNER received 952 votes
ALEX LAMA received 2,163 votes
Section 2. Declaring Mayor and Commissioner for Seat 04. The City Commission of the City of
Sunny Isles Beach hereby declares George"Bud"Scholl as Mayor of Sunny Isles Beach and Jeniffer
Viscarra as Commissioner Seat 04.
Section 3. Installation of New Officers. The City Clerk will administer the oath to George
"Bud" Scholl as Mayor, and to Jeniffer Viscarra as City Commissioner, and shall enter upon the
discharge of their duties,effective thirty(30)days after the General Election,Thursday,December 6,
2018.
Section 4. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th d. of Nov:mber 2018.

Resolution Accepting the Unofficial Results of the
RE: General Election Held on November 6, 2018. Declaring
Mayor and Commissioner Seat 4.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt the attached. Resolution accepting the unofficial results of the
General Election held on November 6, 2018.
REASONS:
A General Election was held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 for
Residential Area Commissioner Seat 2. This Resolution accepts the
unofficial results of the General Election, declaring David Y. Grossman
and Alex Lama as the two (2)candidates who received the most votes.
This Resolution also declares George "Bud" Scholl as Mayor and
Jeniffer Viscarra as Commissioner for Seat 4. Both qualified for office,
ran unopposed, and are, therefore, automatically elected to office.
The City Clerk will administer the oath to the newly elected officials, and
they shall enter upon the discharge of their duties, effective thirty (30)
days after the General Election, Thursday, December 6, 2018 at noon:
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
A Runoff Election will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 for
Commission Seat 2.
