A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING ONE REGISTERED
VOTER, EMANUEL PINE, WHO SHALL SERVE WITH THE CITY
MANAGER AND THE CITY CLERK AS THE CANVASSING BOARD
FOR THE SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NNE 4,
2013; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS. on April 18, 2013, via Ordinance No. 2013 -404, and in accordance with the
Municipal Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, and the general laws of the State
of Florida, the City Commission called and directed that a Special Election be held on
Tuesday, June 4. 2013), for the purpose of submitting to the electorate Charter Amendments;
and
WHEREAS, the City Commission designates a registered voter to serve with the City
Manager and the City Clerk as the City of Sunny Isles Beach's Canvassing Board for the
Special Election; and
WHEREAS, City resident Emanuel Pine has been appointed to the Sunny Isles Beach
Canvassing Board since the City's inception and has done an admirable job.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Designation of One Registered Voter to Serve on the Canvassing Board. The
City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby designates Emanuel Pine, as the
registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the City of Sunny Isles
Beach's Canvassing Board for the Special Election to be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.
Section 2. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18`" day of April 2013.

MEMORANDUM

RE: Designation of a Registered Voter to Serve on the Canvassing
Board
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
designating Emanuel Pine to serve on the Canvassing Board.
REASONS:
On April 18, 2013, the City Commission via Ordinance No. 2013 -
approved proposed amendments to the City's Charter, and called for a Special
Election to be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 for the purpose of submitting to the
electorate those Charter Amendments. The City Commission must designate a
registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the City's
Canvassing Board. Emanuel Pine has served on the City's Canvassing Board for
several years, and he is willing and able to serve again. He has proved to be
very knowledgeable of the process, and therefore it is recommended that Mr.
Pine be designated as a member of the Canvassing Board.
