CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Edelcup at 6:00 p.m., with the following officials <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor Norman S. Edelcup <br />Vice Mayor Lewis J. Thaler <br />Commissioner Isaac Aelion <br />Commissioner Jeanette Gatto <br />Commissioner George "Bud" Scholl <br /> <br />City Manager Alan J. Cohen <br />City Attorney Hans Ottinot <br />City Clerk Jane A. Hines, CMC <br />Assistant City Manager/Services Jorge Vera <br />Assistant City Attorney Fernando Amuchastegui <br /> <br />2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />Action: Former Commissioner Gerry Goodman led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, and <br />the Commission wished him a Happy Birthday on September 11, 2011. <br /> <br />Mayor Edelcup gave opening remarks noting that tonight is our first budget hearing, and our <br />second and final budget hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 20,2011 at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />3. PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED MILLAGE RATE AND TENTATIVE <br />BUDGET <br /> <br />3A. Millage Resolution (Public Hearing) <br />A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach of Miami-Dade, <br />County, Florida, Adopting the City of Sunny Isles Beach Tentative Ad Valorem Tax <br />Millage Levy Rate at 2.8860 Mills per One Thousand Dollars ($1,000) of Taxable Assessed <br />Value Which is 4.17% More than the "Rolled Back" Rate of 2.7706 Mills, for Fiscal Year <br />2011/2012; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Manager Alan Cohen reported noting that the millage rate has not changed from <br />the prior year, and out of 34 municipalities in Miami-Dade County, we are ranked the 8th <br />lowest in millage rate. Mayor Ede1cup said that is about where we have been throughout the <br />life of our City. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: none <br /> <br />Commissioner Scholl moved and Vice Mayor Thaler seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2011-1753 was adopted by a roll call vote of 5-0 in favor. <br />
