RESOLUTION NO. 2013-Q1 15 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE SUNNY ISLES BEACH SOCIAL SENIORS EVENTS, INC. A 501(C)(3) CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION; PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting various social services programs of interest to the residents and guests of Sunny Isles Beach; and WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Social Seniors Events, Inc. ("Social Seniors") is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that offers monthly social and recreational gatherings for senior citizen residents and guests alike; and WHEREAS,the City is committed to serving the community as a whole, regardless of one's age, race, religion or ethnicity; and WHEREAS, Social Seniors provides social and recreational activities as well as informational seminars on medical, financial and other matters of importance to the community; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to continue its tradition of giving contributions to charitable organizations within the City, and wishes to give a charitable contribution to Social Seniors, in an amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) subject to certain conditions. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authorization of Donation. The City Commission hereby authorizes a•charitable contribution for 2013-2014 Fiscal Year to Social Seniors in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) as a matching contribution, plus any remaining funds (after deduction of expenses) in the City account for Fiscal Year 2012-2013, subject to the following terms and conditions: 1. The City shall donate $10,000.00 charitable contribution to Social Seniors as a match to the first $10,000.00 raised by Social Seniors from its gross revenues which includes but is not limited to sponsorships, donations, memberships fees, and fees for events and programming; 2. The City shall provide Social Seniors with any remaining funds collected by Social Seniors during the Fiscal Year 2012-2013 provided that expenses incurred by the City for assisting the incorporation of Social Seniors as a non-profit are deducted from such funds; 3. The $10,000.00 charitable contribution shall be contributed quarterly, i.e. $2,500.00 per quarter; Approving Charitable Contribution to Social Seniors
