Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting October 17, 2013 City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br />the first one is for the purchase order carryovers, and upon completion of the closure of the <br />books we will have a second Ordinance that again will increase the appropriations for <br />carryover projects that may not have been obligated yet but will have to be carried over. <br />Public Speakers: None <br />Commissioner Gatto moved and Commissioner Scholl seconded a motion to approve the <br />proposed Ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5- <br />0 in favor. An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Amending <br />Chapter 129 of the City Code Entitled "Communication Facilities" to Prohibit the <br />Installation of Wireless Telecommunication Antennas or Facilities on the Exterior Wall <br />of any Building or Structure; Providing for Severability; Providing for Repeal of <br />Conflicting Provisions; Providing for Inclusion in the Code; and Providing for an Effective <br />Date. <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and City Attorney Ottinot reported the purpose of the <br />Ordinance is to close the loophole with respect to installation of telecommunication facilities <br />on rooftops. <br />Public Speakers: None <br />Commission Scholl asked about satellite dishes, and City Attorney Ottinot said that is a <br />separate Ordinance that we have on the books. Satellite dishes are permitted within a certain <br />area of the balcony, they just can't be installed outside the permitted areas. Commissioner <br />Scholl asked if existing facilities are grandfathered in, and City Attorney Ottinot said yes, <br />this is going forward. Vice Mayor Aelion said the purpose of this is an objective purpose or <br />an aesthetic purpose, and City Attorney Ottinot said it is primarily an aesthetic purpose. <br />Commissioner Scholl moved and Vice Mayor Aelion seconded a motion to approve the <br />proposed Ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5- <br />0 in favor.
