<br />Brett J. Schneider
<br />Brett is the Managing Director of the Firm's Palm Beach OKice and chairs the
<br />Firm's Labor and Employment Practice Group. Brett is Board Certified by The
<br />Florida Bar in Labor and Employment Law and he represents public and private
<br />sector employers in a wide array of labor and employment law matters.
<br />For his public sector clients, Brett represents employers in collective bargaining
<br />negotiations, labor impasse hearings, unfair labor practice proceedings and labor
<br />arbitrations. In the last several years, he has successfully negotiated collective
<br />bargaining agreements on behalf of the Cities of Aventura, Bal Harbour, Deerfield
<br />Beach, Hallandale Beach, Homestead, Juno Beach, Key Biscayne, Lauderhill and
<br />North Miami. Brett recently has handled labor impasse proceedings for the Cities
<br />of Deerfield Beach, Hallandale Beach and Surfside. He also has achieved
<br />significant labor arbitration victories for the Cities of Bay Harbor Islands, Boca
<br />Raton, Coconut Creek, Deerfield Beach, Golden Beach, Hallandale Beach,
<br />Homestead, Key Biscayne, Lauderhill and Miramar.
<br />Brett has successfully represented public and private sector employers in all
<br />phases of employment litigation, up to and including trial, on matters arising under
<br />Federal, State and local employment laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act,
<br />the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment
<br />Act (ADEA), the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act
<br />(FMLA) and the Florida Civil Rights Act (FCRA). Brett regularly defends employers
<br />in wage and hour suits brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and
<br />has successfully navigated a number of employers through Department of Labor
<br />Wage & Hour Audits.
<br />Brett represents public and private sector employers before Federal, State and
<br />local administrative agencies such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity
<br />Commission (EEOC), the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the Florida
<br />Public Employee's Relations Commission (PERC). In addition, Brett regularly
<br />consults with and advises employers on a wide array of human resources issues,
<br />including personnel policies and procedures, discipline and discharge matters,
<br />drug and alcohol testing, employee privacy rights and educational and training
<br />programs for managers and supervisors, and he has worked closely with
<br />employersto ensure that their practices do not run afoul of Federal, state or local
<br />law.
<br />Brett is certified
<br />as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the HR
<br />Certification Institute and as a Senior Certified Professional by the Society for
<br />Human Resource Management. Brett regularly lectures throughout Florida on
<br />various labor and employment law and human resources matters and has been on
<br />the cutting edge with regard to the impact of the legalization of medical marijuana
<br />on Florida employers.
<br />Prior to joining. the Firm, Brett practiced labor and employment law at large
<br />national law f rms in Washington DC, New York and South Florida.
