Summary Minutes: Regular city Commission Meeting Januar, 16. 2014 Ca) of Sunny Isles Beach. Florida
IOD. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Approving
an Agreement with Craig A. Smith R Associates to Provide Civil Engineering Services
for Designing Services for the Reconstruction of the 174th Street Drainage Improvement
Project, in an Amount Not to Exceed S133.305.50. Attached Hereto as Exhibit "A":
Authorizing the Mayor to Execute Said Agreement: Authorizing the Cite Nlanager to Do All
Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution: Providing for an Effective Date.
Action: City Clerk Hines read the title. and Assistant City Manager Bill Evans reported.
Public Speakers: None
Commissioner Gatto said a lot of the buildings in Winston Towers are going through their
40 -near inspections. and their building is starting which means it will be necessary to park a
bunch of cars on the street. Are you going to be able to manage that with a lot of traffic and
cars parked on the street? Assistant City Manager Evans said we will be phasing the work.
we are not going to shut the road down completely. The first order of business will be to get
all the underground work done which would be primarily the drainage and that would be
inside lane work. We will be shutting a lane down in each direction which would limit some
of the parking but we would do it by a block -by -block section. It does not mean that there
will not be street parking but it does mean they may have to walk a little further than normal
but they will do the best they can to accommodate street parking.
Vice Mayor Aelion asked what is the time span for this project? Assistant City \Manager
Evans said we are getting into design now and we want to be out to bid by late summer and
get working on the project. But to give you a time period, he wants to say around 180 days
or nine months but it may take as much as a year to get it done. We are in the investigative
phase of it right now and we don't know how much pipe we need; or how much paying we
need. He could generalize but he wants to be more specific when he gives an answer.
Commissioner Scholl moved and Commissioner Gatto seconded a motion to approve the
resolution. Resolution No. 2014-2178 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor.
10E. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Florida; Awarding
Bid No. 13-12-02 and Entering into an Agreement with Cool -Breeze Air Conditioning
Corporation to Replace the Chiller Compressor, in an Amount Not to Exceed S33,950.00,
Attached Hereto as Exhibit "A": Authorizing the Mayor to Execute Said Agreement.
Authorizing the City Manager To Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution:
Providing for an Effective Date.
Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Assistant City Manager Bill Evans reported.
Public Speakers: None
Commissioner Scholl moved and Vice Mayor Aelion seconded a motion to approve the
resolution.
