Russo, CityManager <br /> p <br /> • <br /> FROM: `.Javier Rabinovich, Chairman of PAAC • <br /> • DATE: 9/19/2019 <br /> Public Arts Advisory.Committee Recommendation:Art <br /> • RE: Application No.AP2019-01 - Ritz-Carlton Residences, <br /> 15701 Collins Avenue <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> This Resolution is presented for your consideration. <br /> REASONS: <br /> On August 6, 2019, Applicant Sunny Isles Property Venture LLC <br /> sought approval from the PAAC for a Pablo Archugarry sculpture <br /> entitled "Dreaming the Future" to be located at 15701 Collins Avenue. <br /> After vigorous discussion by the PAAC, including consideration of <br /> comments from the Public Art Curator Dr. Long, the Applicant was <br /> advised that, while the piece of art itself was more than acceptable, the <br /> proposed location was not acceptable as the PAAC did not believe it <br /> • met PAAC Guidelines and the requirements and intent of the Art in <br /> Public Places Ordinance adopted by the City Commission. <br /> - The PAAC recommended two alternatives to Applicant for a more <br /> acceptable location and placement. At issue also was the actual value <br /> - - of the sculpture since certain items were included in the appraisal that <br /> the PAAC did not believe should have been included. Applicant said <br /> they would re-evaluate the valuation. Additionally, the Applicant <br /> requested that each PAAC member make a site visit to understand the <br /> site constraints between that meeting and a newly scheduled special <br /> meeting for August 19th for the purpose of reconsidering this issue. <br /> 62 <br />
