RFQ No. 19-11-01 Professional Engineering and Architectural Services for Pedestrian Bridge with Park Elements Across A1A at 174th St. - CCNA.
City of Sunny Isles Beach
|9
D
• Health and safety requirements
• Communication and documentation plan
• Type and format of deliverables
• Confidentiality
Throughout the design and construction process, Project
Manager Jerry M. Pfuntner, PE, SE (FINLEY) and/or
Lead Bridge Engineer Patrick R. Noble, PE, SE (FINLEY)
will meet regularly with the City to coordinate / evaluate
sequence, schedule, cost controls and programmatic
options to advance the Pedestrian Bridge across A1A at
174th ST. In addition to coordination meetings, the project
management team will update the City with regular project
status reports and budget projections.
FINLEY and its key team of sub-consultants are currently
working together on one of the most complex interchanges
in the Miami area. Therefore, we have a proven, practiced
system of working together and communication, with
advanced knowledge of the complimentary nature of our
skill-sets.
DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION
CONSIDERATIONS
The FINLEY team will use its expertise in complex bridge
design projects and experience with FDOT projects to
provide the following design considerations: to deliver a
signature pedestrian bridge that provides connectivity as
an integral component of the urban city environment and
community.
BrIM (BRIDGE INTEGRATION
MODELING) DESIGN APPROACH
FINLEY will work in a full BrIM 3D environment for
seamless integration of critical design elements and the
geometric details saving substantial time, providing better
visualization, and reducing scheduling setbacks. This
approach saves valuable time in the review by identifying
potential problems and conflicts with the other component
of the project early on. The City will benefit from BrIM
modeling for, inspection and as an asset management tool.
BrIM contains the design engineering and construction
information, maintenance and repair documentation in a
single 3D environment.
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS &
STRUCTURAL SYSTEM
The choice of the structural type and construction
material can impact many aspects of a project. FINLEY
recommends a trapezoidal steel box girder superstructure,
with a good three-part paint system, as the most efficient
structural system type to provide an elegant and light
structure. This structure type will be a significant benefit to
the substructure design and construction, thus minimizing
the impact on the local traffic during the transportation and
erection of the girders.
A concrete solution, either precast or cast in place, will
require the use of temporary shoring system located in
the median of the A1A and will have a significant impact
on the overall traffic and mobility for a longer time frame
compared to the steel structural system solution.
AESTHETIC ENHANCEMENT
Aesthetics will be applied in strategic areas to accentuate
beauty within the structure, avoiding unnecessary costs.
Our Team understands that the City desires this new bridge
to be more than a crossing; this project embodies the design
and construction of a Signature and Iconic bridge for
Sunny Isles Beach. Experience, creativity and specialization
is needed in order to create a bridge that is both unique and
cost-effective. As such, we will augment the design of the
bridge so that the experience of viewing the bridge (from
both Collins Ave and from 174th Street) and traversing
beneath the span is as rich and unique of an experience as
being on the bridge.
PROJECT UNDERSTANDING & APPROACH
