The cable <br />stayed portion of the project consisted of two centerline pylons and 36 stays that ran from the back span segments over the upper section of the centerline <br />pylon and ended at the front span segments, all through a delta frame between the two carriageways. Stays varied in size from 11 strands to as much as 29 <br />strands and they were pressure grouted inside steel pipes. Total length of the bridge 1650 ft. with an important center span of 630 ft. over the St. Johns River in Jacksonville <br />Florida. The contract for the twin bridges also included the demolition of the old Acosta Bridge.
