BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br />Ninth Street is designed to be the active center of Innovation Square, an urban <br />mixed-use research district connected to the University of Florida. The Innovation <br />Square plan relies on the creation of new streetscapes to integrate new <br />development into the existing urban fabric of Gainesville and create a walkable, <br />pedestrian-friendly environment. Two main axes, Ninth Street, which runs north <br />to south and Third Avenue, which runs east and west, convert a mega-block <br />where the Alachua County General Hospital used to stand. <br />Ninth Street is defined by signature bands of dark grey concrete and custom <br />seating. From edge to edge, bands of integral colored dark grey concrete create <br />a rhythm and a signature design for the street. Wide, welcoming sidewalks <br />and tree-lined streets also indicate that you have entered the Innovation <br />Square District. <br />25.
