BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br />Brandon Avenue redesign is a 21st century take on the Academical Village: it’s <br />an urban, mixed-use district with a working landscape designed to showcase <br />sustainability, support learning and promote health. <br />Perkins+Will worked closely the UVA client team and stakeholders to develop <br />an urban design and development vision for Brandon Avenue. Urban design <br />concepts were evaluated for the key design drivers, development potential, <br />flexibility of phasing, and sustainability, as well as transportation (all modes) and <br />infrastructure impacts. <br />The master plan calls for the transformation of Brandon Avenue into a “Green <br />Street”—a one-way loop with a landscaped bioretention area and gathering <br />spaces in the center. It provides a phased development strategy for academic, <br />research and residential uses that meet University needs in context while <br />maintaining the integrity of the urban design vision.
