<br />The project requirements include the inspection of the bridges, engineering reports, environmental documents, a Section 4(f) document and
<br />preliminary plans. Assistant Project Manager and Structural Engineer responsible for conceptual Structural Analysis and desig n of the ten low-
<br />level fixed span bridges, preparation of Preliminary Engineering Report study documents, public involvement workshops and activities, and
<br />coordination with sub-consultants and agenc ies. The V enetian Causeway bridges (ten low-level fix ed sp ans and two movable bascules) from
<br />North Bayshore Drive in Miami to Purdy Avenue in Miami Beach were originally built in 1926 and have been designated as historic landmarks by
<br />the City of Miami and City of Miami Beach; they are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Extensive public
<br />involvement efforts are being done as part of this study. The PD&E study will look at alternatives that satisfy the public; protect the environment;
<br />are sensitive to the historic designation; result in bridges that are safe, maintainable and serve the needs of the public.

<br />Lead Engineer Project consisted of the Design-Build RFP Development. Responsible for project management tasks, structural inspection,
<br />preparation of construction documents and specifications, cost estimating, and engineering support services. The Design-Build RFP
<br />development included Design and Construction Requirements, Construction Technical Specifications, and Conceptual Design Plans for the new
<br />elevator tower on the northern end of the existing parking garage, a new prefabricated Bus Operator Supervisor’s booth, a new canopy along
<br />the eastern side of the existing parking garage; modernization of existing elevators; and the overhaul and renewal of the existing parking. The
<br />project included extensive coordination with Miami-Dade Transit and DTPW facilities to meet all design and construction requirements.

<br />Preliminary Study and Final Design of a 123-foot simple trunnion single leaf through-girder bascule span bridge to replace the Tamiami Canal
<br />Histo rical Swing Bridge constructed in 1921. The project includes providing a 4 lane wide bridge with 6 foot and 12 foot shared sidewalks and
<br />control house within a 50 foot limited right-of-way and low bridge profile which resulted in the need to use through-ba scule girders. The floor
<br />system consists of floor beams and an exodermic bridge deck with no steel stringers and lateral bracing. Architectural features to the bridge and
<br />control house are also included in the detail design. Structural Engineer responsible for the design of the single leaf bascule span bridge steel
<br />plate bascule floor-beams, design and detailing of the rest pier which includes pile, wall design, design and detail of seawall, quantities and cost
<br />estimate of finished project.

<br />$95 million Design/Build contract to replace twin double leaf bascule span bridge with a 150’ rolling lift span over the navigable channel, 12-
<br />150 foot pre-stressed concrete approach spans and approach roadway work. Project maintains traffic on existing bridge during construction of
<br />the new bridge. Structural Engineer responsible for approach substructure design (bascule pier walls, columns and beams) and abutment
<br />design including concrete monument support structure on drilled shaft foundations. Structural Engineer responsible for LRFR bridge load ratings
<br />for cast-in-place reinforced concrete slabs.
