BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br />Palm Beach County’s (County) Roadway and Bridge Division <br />decided to replace the existing bridge on SR-A1A, (also referred <br />to as Alternate A1A or Ocean Boulevard) which crosses tidal <br />waters within Carlin Park, a County owned park, in Jupiter, <br />Florida. <br /> R.J. Behar & Company, Inc. (RJ Behar) developed the design <br />for the new bridge replacement with a new bridge similar to the <br />existing bridge (span = 15’) with similar substructure consisting <br />of piles and sheeting. The design included wing walls for each <br />quadrant, preferably adjacent to the back of the sidewalk, in <br />order to reduce construction impacts within the sensitive coastal <br />environment. The roadway design included the necessary <br />approach modification to the new bridge. <br /> The SR-A1A Bridge and Roadway right-of-way is within <br />sensitive coastal wetlands inside Carlin Park. The wetlands are <br />affected by tidal waters with several species of mangroves near <br />the bridge. Through minimization and avoidance efforts during <br />design, impacts to the wetland were avoided. The project received a permit exemption per Florida Statutes 403.813 (l) from the <br />South Florida Water Management District, and the milling and resurfacing were determined to be a No-Notice General Permit (GP) <br />per 40E‐400.315 FAC. <br />RJ Behar completed and obtained the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ permit and the fill and dredge sketches <br />Cost/Fees Paid: $124,676.64 │Construction Cost: $647,089.00 │ PBC Project No.: 2012514 │Evaluation Grade: 99.3 <br />Key Personnel: Robert J.
