The project includes roadway, drainage, lighting and signalization improvements as well as replacement of a
bulkhead wall along the existing canal. Additionally, the geotechnical services include providing design services for a Pump Station
at 32nd Street, which included developing engineering recommendations for pump station foundation and excavation support.
UES’s scope of services included performing subsurface exploration for design of the bulkhead wall system, perform laboratory
soil/rock classification testing, and providing soil/rock parameters for use in bulkhead retaining wall design. The geotechnical field
exploration program was a challenge in order to properly secure ROW permits and provide Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) during
normal work hours.
City of Miami Beach Giancarlo Pena, PE, (305)673-7071
2016 N/A
Universal Engineering Sciences Fort Myers, Florida Geotechnical Consultant
