Floor System
A continuous concrete slab composite with the FUBs serves as a walking surface, stiffens the structure in
bending and torsion, and further adds to the system redundancy. Concrete slabs span longitudinally
between exterior brackets containing soil, utility chases, and drainage troughs.
Amphitheater Structure
The elevated amphitheater structure system will be studied during the BDR phase. A torsionally stiff beam
at the bridge end with two longitudinal through-girders is a potential solution. The transverse beams will
span from the through-girders to support the floor system. Deflections under dynamic loading will be
analyzed to ensure no resonance. A strut supporting the balcony
tip, tying diagonally back to the main pier, is also an option to
control deflections, add redundancy, and reduce superstructure
depths and weight.
Ancillary Structures
Elevator shafts and access stair structures will be integrated into
the main crossing and site. We propose to integrate the stair
system into the elevator shaft to minimize the footprint. H&H has
provided these systems successfully with attention to the ADA
requirements and electro-mechanical interfaces on past projects.

Floor System - Slab on FUBs and between ribs
Integrated Stairs and Elevator Shaft
D-16
