This project was a pilot project for the <br />FDOT's BOLD Initiative instituted by the Governor. Extensive coordination with the <br />City of Fort Lauderdale involved design efforts that included special architectural <br />wall/vertical features, Florida Friendly landscape design, as well as hardscape and <br />irrigation to ensure a Context Sensitive Solution was provided as an entry point to <br />the eastern Fort Lauderdale beach communities along the Middle River. These improvements enhanced the landscape <br />of this corridor and responded to the multi-purpose trail adjacent to the US 1 <br />corridor.
