Each of the twin bridge <br />structures consist of a four-lane crossings with 16 pre-stressed AASHTO concrete and <br />steel beams spans and a double-leaf trunnion bascule span. <br /> <br />Design services included mechanical/electrical rehabilitation, steel painting, deck grating <br />replacement with wheel paths, vibration study of the control house, public involvement; <br />permitting, TCP plans, roadway, drainage, signing and pavement markings analysis and <br />plans, and construction cost estimates. <br /> <br />This design project will add bicycle lanes on Sunny Isles Boulevard, from SR A1A to NE <br />35th Avenue, and includes the addition of special safety details on the bascule grating. <br />Traffic control will include a crossover geometry which required our team to coordinate <br />with the City of Sunny Isles Beach on how to limit any impacts to a City park and <br />associated hardscape. <br /> <br />The following deficiencies were noted during inspection, addressed, and corrected: <br />deterioration of open grid steel deck (surface corrosion, distressed connectors, cracked <br />welds and broken rivets, replacement/rehabilitation of drives, bearings and locks. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BICYCLE GRATING – SAFETY DETAIL <br />F-19
