BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br />image courtesy of Prince Contracting, LLC <br />This $154 million, 7.3 -mile project, located along 1-95 from north of <br />Commercial Boulevard to South of SW 10th Street, was completed four <br />months ahead of allowable contract time. The project included <br />converting the existing high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes to high <br />occupancy toll (HOT) lanes and widening resulting in two tolled Express <br />Lanes in each direction. Improvements also include: milling, resurfacing <br />and overbuilding of the 1-95 general use lanes; roadway widening <br />guardrail; barrier wall; attenuators; shoulder gutters; drainage; bridge <br />widenings; temporary and permanent retaining walls; sound barrier <br />walls; sign structures; portable traffic monitoring sites; tolling gantries <br />and associated infrastructure including toll equipment buildings; <br />Intelligent Transportation System (ITS); signing and pavement markings; <br />express lane delineators; signalization; lighting; ramp (metering) signals; <br />utility relocation; landscaping; and any additional items required to <br />provide a complete highway system. <br />As a member of the D/B team, Terracon performed the following geotechnical services: soil exploration, soil classification, <br />laboratory testing. and standard foundation studies for roadway widening, bridge widening, MSE walls, overhead sign <br />structures, ITS and toll gantries. Terracon also provided post design geotechnical services including responding to RFIs, <br />Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA) testing, drilled shaft and auger cast pile inspections. Firm's Fee: $935,948 <br />Terracon was responsible for providing construction materials engineering, testing, inspections, and Contractor Quality <br />Control (CQC) services for the Contractor, Prince Contracting, LLC. Terracon's CTAP -certified technicians performed field <br />sampling and testing as well as laboratory testing services for soils and concrete. Our QC Manager supervised and <br />scheduled Terracon personnel, reviewed density log book entries, logged samples into the Materials Acceptance and <br />Certification (MAC) reporting system, construction compliance with specification and plan documents, and prepared monthly <br />invoices and quantities for the Job Guide Schedule. The QC Manager provided a notarized monthly certification letter of <br />compliance with the requirements of the specifications and plans. The scope of work also included soils testing for <br />embankment and walls, concrete testing for drilled shafts and bridge decks, auger cast pile testing, and PDA testing.
