(PDS) served as the prime consultant responsible for providing professional engineering, surveying and permitting services to Broward County Transit (BCT) for ADA improvements to existing and new bus stop locations throughout Broward County, under the Transit Infrastructure & Shelter Improvements at Bus Stops Project, a Federally funded project. PDS’s responsibilities for this project included existing site documentation, preparation of surveys, existing facility assessment and evaluations, project budgeting, coordination of geotechnical investigations, project schedule development and updates, civil engineering design, permit preparation and processing, modification of permits acquired by the BCT, maintenance of traffic plans, utility relocations coordination, stormwater management, construction management and related construction support services. The PDS professional staff has designed Accessibility improvements to transit facilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for over 220 bus stops including features like curb and gutter, landing pads, sidewalk connectors, and handicap ramps. In addition, PDS has prepared paving, grading and drainage plans to depict proper stormwater conveyance and retention as required by the proposed improvements. The utility coordination for this project is very rigorous since many of the bus stops are located within high dense urban areas with reduced right-of-way space. In order to accommodate the proposed improvements, PDS has successfully relocated many utilities including but not limited to electrical, traffic, telecommunications, and others. Premiere Design Solution’s role in the project is: Lead design Engineer responsible for the design and management of the project to ensure design completion within the allowable time schedule and budget. Topographic surveys in NAVD 88 and State Plane Coordinates. The design of the paving, grading and drainage to ensure ADA compliance. Processing, completion and submittal of all regulatory agency permits. Engineering construction inspections to oversee construction work as per design plans. Up to date, PDS has completed through this project 14 independent work orders, in several municipalities throughout Broward County. Each work order is handled as a separate project and all have been completed within the required schedule and at or under budget.
