LUIS J. JURADO, P.E.
QA/QC Manager

approvals of the local governmental agencies such as Broward County Transit (BCT), Broward County Aviation
Dept. (BCAD) and Pembroke Pines.

FLL International Airport Runway Extension over US-1, Broward County Aviation Division, Florida. This
project included the preparation of a schematic design for all the utility relocations and proposed utilities required
for this project. This is a Design-Build project yet to be awarded, that will extend Runway 9R-27L over US-1 and
the FEC Railroad. Mr. Jurado was the Project Principal responsible for the coordination and review of the existing
Design Criteria Package, and research of existing utilities in order to prepare a Sound Schematic design with
quantities, projected schedule, engineering cost estimates and constructing cost estimate. This utility coordination
and relocation plan was submitted as part of the teams technical submittal for this project.

Taylor Lane Roadway Improvements, Dania Beach, FL - The project consisted of topographic survey, drainage
improvements and roadway improvements for the purposes of providing flood protection for Taylor Lane located
in the City of Dania Beach. Mr. Jurado was the Project Lead and was the engineer of record and responsible for
providing project coordination and engineering design including the preparation of stormwater calculations and
staging models. Project also required the permitting and construction oversight for the improvements to this
roadway. The design included creating roadside swales and retention areas, along with storm inlets and drainage
piping system to convey the roadway stormwater run-off. The project also included raising sections of the roadway
to meet Broward County roadway flood criteria.

Water Works 2011, City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The WaterWorks 2011 project is a public services
program created by the City of Fort Lauderdale to improve the water and wastewater infrastructure of the City
of Fort Lauderdale. Under this project, the City invested in excess of $550 millions towards these improvements
with the main goal to provide state of the art water treatment and provide a wastewater collection system that will
protect the environment and promote a healthier lifestyle. Mr. Jurado was involved in the design of Septic Area 4
and Septic Area 8. Combined both areas totaled over 20,000 linear feet of new gravity sewers, two pump stations,
force mains and over 8,000 linear feet of new water mains. Mr. Jurado served as project engineer responsible for
engineering plans preparation including profiles and quantity take offs for cost estimating.

Pembroke Pines Health Park Senior Living Facility, City of Pembroke Pines, Florida. The Pembroke Pines
Health Park is a city controlled and run facility located on the northwest corner of Pembroke Road and University
Drive. Over the course of five years, the City demolished much of the existing infrastructure system and constructed
three – five story senior living buildings. Mr. Jurado served as project engineer for the master site engineering study,
the engineering design and the permitting.

Pembroke Pines City Center, Pembroke Pines, Florida (SR-820 & Palm Ave.) This project consisted of a mix-
use development that incorporates residential and retail on a 120-acre site located at the intersection of Pines Blvd.
and Palm Avenue in the City of Pembroke Pines, Florida. The wastewater component of the project included the
design of a new lift station including a 10’ diameter wet well, electrical system and pump controls, telemetry and 75
HP pumps in a dry configuration with an operating point of 750 GPM @ 160’ of Head. The pump station required
a 12” diameter Force main extension of 3,000LF to tie at Washington Street south of the proposed pump station. Mr.
Jurado served as project engineer responsible for producing engineering plans including the design of the pump
station and the wastewater collection and transmission systems. He worked closely with the pump manufacturer to
select efficient pumps that would satisfy operating conditions.
Baseball Dug-out Replacements, City of Dania Beach, Florida - The Dugout Replacements project consists of
replacing two dugouts at the C.W. Thomas Park and four dugouts at the P.J. Meli Park. The scope included replacing
the existing structures with new ones and providing ADA access to them. Project cost was approximately $95,000.
Mr. Jurado will served as the project manager in charge of the civil engineering design and lead the team which
included architecture, structural, and electrical features.

Pembroke Pines Health Park Senior Living Facility, City of Pembroke Pines, Florida.
