The scope of the project
included providing a demolition plan for the site showing the limits of demolition for the towers and
roadways and providing a new interior roadway with new drainage design. Ross assisted the Project
Manger on the interior roadway design and new driveway. Horizontal and vertical geometry of the
roadway and new drainage improvements were designed to collect and convey stormwater runoff.
Additionally, driveway improvements were permitted through the City of Hollywood to allow for vehicles
to have an emergency driveway exit, which is needed for the larger 18-wheel vehicles. A civil 3D model
was created for the site which was used to provide plan profile and cross sections for the new roadway.
Construction has been completed.
Project Owner: Florida Power & Light
Project Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Total Project Cost: $150,000 (Design fees)
Contact Information: Greg Hill, Project Manager
386-329-4620 / Gregory.hill@fpl.com
Project Name: Port Everglades Interior Roadway and Drainage Design via a General
Engineering Contract with FP&L
Completed – On Time: Yes
Completed – On Budget: Yes
Number of Change Orders: None
Type of Work Performed: Demotion, roadway, and drainage design improvements.
Project Dates: (Start/Finish): 2017 / 2019
Ross Team Members:
Robert Ross, PE, LEED AP
Melissa Ross, MSCE
Franklyn Garris
Daniel Sanders
Philip Mills-Lutterodt
Page 58
