BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost)

To date, the City of Delray has participated in nine beach nourishment
projects since 1973 with approximately 8.2 million cubic yards of sand placed
from offshore borrow areas. CPE staff recently assisted the City with the
USACE’s implementation of the 2020 FCCE Shore Protection Project Delray
Beach Segment, which repaired impacts from Hurricane Irma. The project
was constructed February to March, placing 365,000 cy in the project area.
Throughout construction, our staff provided daily construction observations
and updates to the City, attended meetings, assisted with public outreach,
and monitored permit compliance throughout construction.
Our team is currently being led by Tara Brenner to assist the City with
planning for the upcoming 6th Periodic Beach Renourishment in 2021. This
has included development and submittal of permit modification requests to the
FDEP and USACE to expand the previously authorized borrow area. The
previously constructed beach template remains the same. Additionally, CPE
staff conducted mapping of the reef located seaward of the borrow area and
conducted a survey for federally listed coral species. We have maintained an
open line of communication and facilitated extensive coordination with
regulatory agencies throughout the
process.

25.
