Lloyd Beach State Park - Beach Access Boardwalk and
Ramp Repairs
CGA was contracted by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)
to replace the existing boardwalk deck to meet current ADA requirements. The project
scope included surveying, civil, permitting, preparation of construction documents
and technical specifications, and assistance to FDEP during the bid processes.
Project improvements included the re-decking of the boardwalks at four (4)
separate beach access locations which provide pedestrian access from the existing
parking facilities to the beach. The improvements have been designed to meet the
Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act and the Florida Accessibility Code of 2012.
Environmental considerations were considered during the design process and the
protection of all existing vegetation was a critical component for FDEP in this project.
These enhancements were designed and permitted simultaneously, and were
completed with the continued coordination through both client and permit agencies.
Due to the proximity of the existing beach shore line, an FDEP Coastal Construction
Control Line (CCCL) Field Permit was obtained to ensure proper design and site
construction to minimize impacts to the adjacent sensitive coastal vegetation.
Because design of boardwalks limited ground disturbance of surrounding seaward
lands, a South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Deminimus Exemption
was obtained for water resources. Construction was completed in 2017.
X X
X X
110
