The project consists of a 4 story L-shaped building (73,000SF). Field work included SPT borings and BHP tests. Provided a geotechnical report discussing soil and groundwater conditions. Provided geotechnical engineering recommendations regarding shallow foundation design, ground floor slab, utilities, site preparation, fill, and other construction considerations. TSF provided geotechnical testing and sheet pile installation observations. Our staff observed the bottom of foundations for compliance with geotechnical recommendations (bottoms to be constructed on sound limestone). TSF also provided laboratory testing, soils (Proctors), permeability tests on turf material, concrete and grout compressive strength testing. TSF also provided density tests for compaction compliance in utility backfill, building pads and miscellaneous backfill structures; concrete testing on foundations, building pad and miscellaneous structures; and grout testing in masonry walls. Inspection services included floor flatness and fireproofing. Completed on time and within budget in 2016
SkyHouse @ University City, Sweetwater, Florida: TSF performed a Geotechnical Engineering Study and also providing material testing and inspection services during construction for the SkyHouse @ University City development located at SW 170th Avenue in Sweetwater, Florida. The project includes the construction of a new 15-story, 470,487 gross square foot University Housing which includes retail, pool deck, and a 303-space parking garage along with the associated site work. The building will be supported on auger cast piles, with a CIP Flat Plate Post Tensioned structure, and Masonry Infill. In addition, drainage, sewer and waterlines are included. The purpose of the study was to explore and evaluate the subsurface conditions at the site to enable an evaluation of acceptable foundation for the proposed construction. Field work included SPT borings. Provided geotechnical recommendations regarding foundation design, foundation soil preparation requirements, general site development and comments regarding factors that may impact construction and performance of the proposed construction. TSF provided Material Testing and Threshold Inspection Services during the design and construction phases of the project. Sampling and Laboratory Testing include Modified Proctor values on structural fill, footings, slab and backfill material; LBR tests on subgrade and base materials; Test compressive strength grout cubes for auger-cast-piles, concrete cylinders and grout prisms for walls, and mortar cubes for walls. Construction Materials Testing includes In-Place-Density testing on structural fill, footings, slab, subgrade, base and backfill material; slump, and temperature testing on concrete; compressive strength tests cubes for auger-cast piles and walls; cylinders and grout prisms. Additionally, TSF is providing post tension tendons monitoring elongations, cutting (by others) and reporting. Threshold Inspection Services include Certified Building inspector to observe reinforcing steel in foundations, slabs, masonry walls, beams, stairs, elevated floors, and all inspections necessary to comply with permitted construction documents and Threshold inspection plan; occasional concrete monitoring on the major structural elements; weekly reports documenting laboratory tests and field data to appropriate parties; and final compliance letter confirming that all inspected work was performed as per Florida Building Code, project specifications and County requirements. TSF is also providing auger-cast-pile installation observation. Completed on time and within budget in 2019
30
