PBSO Vehicle Shelter, Palm Beach County, Florida. TSF provided Construction Materials Testing and Resident Inspection Services for the new PBSO Special Ops Vehicle Storage Facility located on Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach. The building has shallow foundations, slab-on-grade, knee masonry walls and metal “Butler” Building. Some minor site improvements were also included in the project. Sampling and Laboratory Testing included Modified Proctor, on foundation, slab soils, and utilities; compressive strength concrete cylinders. TSF technicians performed In-Place-Density testing on foundation soils, slab and utilities; conducted slump, and temperature testing on concrete; and molded compressive strength test cylinders. TSF also provided a Licensed Building Inspector to observe placement of steel in foundations, slabs, and masonry walls; provide inspection of structural steel columns, joists and roof connections, including bolts and welds; and provided final compliance letters to building authorities. Completed on time and within budget in 2015
Bert Winters Park, Palm Beach County, Florida. TSF provided construction material testing and resident inspection services for the Palm Beach County Bert Winters Park located in Palm Beach County. This project consists of a new restrom building, floating dock, parking lots, sidewalks, and curbs. TSF’s testing services included, modified proctor testing on foundation, subgrade, base, and utilities. Provided LBR testing on subgrade and base material. Tested compressive strength concrete cylinders on foundations, slab-on-grade, sidewalks, and curbs. Tested compressive strength grout prisms for walls. Conducted slump and temperature testing on concrete and grout. Performed in-place density testing on foundation soils, slab and utilities. TSF’s resident inspector services included, inspections of reinforcing steel in foundations, slabs, masonry walls, beams, and all inspections necessary to comply with permitted construciton documents and inspection plans. A TSF Principal Engineer was available to review reports and handle project coordination. Provided a final compliance letter to building authorities. Completed on time and within budget in 2015
Fire Station #22, Palm Beach County, Florida. TSF perfromed a geotechnical engineering study for the Minto Westlake-Fire Station #22 in Palm Beach County, Florida. The construction includes a one-story facility and associated parking areas. The building will cover an area of 10,000 square feet. The purpose of the study was to explore the subsurface conditions at the site to enable an evaluation of acceptable foundation systems for the proposed construction. Geotechnical field exploration included SPT borings, auger borings, and BHP test. Provided a geotechnical engineering report that outlined the testing procedures, described the site and subsurface conditions, and included geotechnical evaluations and recommendations regarding general site development, Foundation soil preparation requirements, Foundation and Pavement Recommendations, and Comments regarding factors that may impact construction and performance of the proposed construction. TSF also provided Construction Material Testing and Special Inspection Services during the construction phase for Fire Station #22. The new construction consists of a new fire station that includes shallow foundations, slab on grade, CMU walls, metal trusses and girders. TSF provided modified proctor values on structural fill, footings, slab and backfill material. LBR tests on subgrade and base material were taken. In-Place Density testing on structural fill, footings, slab, subgrade, base and backfill material were performed. Slump tests and temperature testing were taken on concrete. TSF also tested the strength of the concrete cylinders for foundations. A certified building inspector from TSF observed reinforcing steel in foundations, slabs, masonry walls, beams, erection of trusses, roof truss connections, roof sheathing/decks (welds), columns, and all inspections necessary to comply with permitted construction documents. Weekly documentation regarding laboratory tests, field data and inspection reports were distributed to the appropriate parties. A senior engineer was available to review all project reports, handle project coordination and attend meetings. Completed on time and within budget in 2020
