Mr. Colao manages large scale public and private sector projects involving municipalities and civic facilities, schools and universities, parks, cruise terminals, retail facilities, office buildings, and warehouses. He is an expert in constructibility reviews, code analysis and interdisciplinary coordination.

<br />BEA Architects was contracted by the City of Miami Beach to design a fully enclosed, air conditioned modern facility with new interior finishes, new lighting, impact resistant windows, new reception area, offices, conference room, flexible casual seating, enhanced security and a contemporary retail environment. The project was completed within the City’s budget and time schedule, without disruption to the Tennis Center’s ongoing operations.
<br />As part of an Architectural Continuous Service Contract with the City of Miami Beach, BEA Architects provided Architectural and Engineering Services for Interior Tenant Improvements to the City of Miami Beach Historic City Hall. Some of the interior improvements include the replacement of new flooring, new floor base, and the replacement of existing ceiling tiles that were damaged or worn. BEA also was responsible for Permitting and preparing and issuing Bid Documents, as well as providing Construction Administration services and Project Close-out.

<br />Complete architectural and engineering services for a new, two-story dock-master building offering offices, a multipurpose room, restrooms, and a laundry facility for boaters renting slips in the marina. The 3,000-SF structure boasting Art Deco Revival style is located on a small key between Miami’s mainland and Miami Beach. Site improvements include replacing light poles and all new landscaping.

<br />BEA Architects was contracted to provide complete Design-Build services for the construction of an 80 slot covered USDA inspection dock at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Each container slot is equipped with reefer plugs to power the refrigerated containers during inspection. Mr. Colao served as BEA’s Quality Assurance Officer of pre-fabricated materials, and led the construction personnel to ensure the project stayed on budget and schedule.

<br />BEA Architects is currently performing courtyard renovations to the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami, FL. Some of the improvements include the select demolition, the removal and replacement of the existing canopy fabric to install a removable turnbuckle canopy system; the removal of the existing paver system for a new permeable paver system.
