(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Marine Scientist. Conducted benthic survey of natural resources of proposed dredge area and surrounding borrow
areas to map extent, and characterize, benthic habitats present including seagrasses and potential marine resources of
concern (corals). Multiple species of seagrass, including the threatened Johnsons’ seagrass, were identified, and mapped.
Project Scientist. Conducted daily site visits to monitor event construction and deconstruction progress to ensure that
there were no negative impacts to the adjacent wetland and coastal habitat and confirm that construction activities
followed the Environmental Management and Remediation Plan and was in compliance with the event’s conservation
measures and conditions. Took representative photos of the construction activities and any identified sensitive species.
Also completed daily datasheets to be uploaded for the Client’s access at the end of each monitoring event. Coordinated
with event staff to address areas of concern throughout the Project site and collected water samples for analysis.
Marine Scientist. Conducted a reconnaissance survey of the project area and immediate vicinity to map out and
characterize nearshore benthic habitats, including seagrass and hardbottom communities, using belt -transect and point
quadrat methodology, including Braun-Blanquet and BEAMR. A report and basemap were prepared to process
environmental permits through FDEP and USACE. Coordinated with both the FDEP and FKNMS on the design of the
Marine Scientist. Conducted marine resource assessment of existing submerged bottom, dock and bulkhead structures
(in accordance with the NMFS recommendations for sampling Halophila johnsonii, the Recommended Survey Protocol for
Acropora spp., and the FKNMS Protocol for Benthic Surveys for Coral Resources in FKNMS) to document extent,
species, and density of corals, sponges, and seagrasses growing within the area. Prepared a Field Observation Report.
