St. Johns County intended to develop a beach re-
nourishment program for the northern most beaches (North Ponte Vedra) of the county . The U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers identified several sources of beach quality sand offshore of St. Johns County that could
serve as borrow sites for beach restoration north of St. Augustine Inlet. To determine the geotechnical
suitability of sediments for beach placement, we utilized our pneumatic vibracore unit to collect 26 vibracore
samples to 20’ below sediment surface or until refusal at the designated locations. This reconnaissance
phase evaluated various potential sand sources to recommend a specific site and data collection plan for
the subsequent detail phase of the investigation.
b.
(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED
Panama City Harbor, Florida
(On behalf of USACE Mobile District, FDEP and Taylor
Engineering)
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONSTRUCTION (If
applicable)
2019
BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Mr. Clarkson was the principal in charge of operations. The Tampa Harbor entrance channel was in need
of maintenance dredging with potential beach or nearshore placement of the dredged material. To assess
the sediment characteristics of the shoaled material, we coordinated all site access and clearances with
the Port of Tampa Bay and in water depths ranging from 40’ to 50’, collected 71 vibracores to 10’ depths or
until refusal was encountered.
d.
(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) SECTION F PROJECT #5 (2) YEAR COMPLETED
Town of Oak Island
Offshore of Oak Island, North Carolina
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONSTRUCTION (If
applicable)
2019 and 2020
