If the accident is severe, that is the injured person(s) may suffer permanent disability or loss of <br />life, the area where the accident occurred must be closed off until the police and company safety <br />director/consultant complete their investigations. Obtain statements from all witnesses right away, <br />take pictures, and cooperate with local authorities. <br />2.) SEVERE CLIMATE CONDITIONS <br />CASES WHERE PREVENTIVE STEPS CAN BE TAKEN: Follow the instructions of the <br />Hurricane Plan. <br />Tropical Storm: Hurricane is approaching, the following steps are to be taken: <br />1. Fasten down any materials that might blow away. <br />2. In projects where barricades are being used and they cannot be removed for reasons of public <br />safety, secure them with cables and place sandbags around the bases. Group and fasten in <br />bundles barricades that can be removed, and put them in a safe place. <br />3. Remove all types of debris and waste from the worksites. <br />4. Fill up the fuel tanks of all vehicles and equipment. <br />5. Park vehicles and equipment in a safe place (far from trees and fragile construction). Good <br />practice has been to cover windshields with bags of mulch. <br />6. Cover the windows and doors of our buildings with plywood and wood panels or hurricane <br />shutters. <br />7. Check and adjust the anchoring of trailer offices. Those without anchoring should be secured <br />with '/2" cable. <br />8. Take photos of all Company property, including the inside of offices to record their pre- <br />hurricane condition. <br />9. Check and prepare for start up all portable generators, chainsaws, wood chippers and all other <br />equipment that can be used to cut and remove fallen trees. <br />10. Move all important files to a location with the most probability of remaining safe and dry. <br />11. Check all fire extinguishers and recharge those that have been used. <br />12. Inspect First Aid Kits and replenish as required. <br />13. Turn off and unplug all computers and office equipment and store in a safe place. Wrap them <br />in plastic to keep them from getting wet. <br />14. If a power source to offi <br />ces and/or workshops does not need to be connected, shut it down. <br />15. If you have changed your telephone number and/or address and have not reported it, do so <br />immediately. If you know you will not be at home during the hurricane, try to provide a <br />telephone and address where you can be located. Remember that after a hurricane, the work <br />done by a Company like ours is in great demand in the community. <br />16. Make sure that before the hurricane arrives, company managers have a list of telephone <br />numbers and addresses of all personnel. <br />17. Stay informed of developments by tuning into local TV and radio stations. <br />18. All radio and Mobil phone users must try to keep their units on and charged in the event <br />regular phone lines have been disrupted. <br />19. Employees will be provided with the managers' contact number for communications after the <br />storm. It is the employees' responsibility to contact the office or managers within 24 Hours <br />after the storm for work instructions. <br />
