p.) SAFETY IN VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT <br />1. On a daily basis, inspect the vehicle or equipment assigned to you. <br />2. After leaving the yard, you are responsible for any breakage or defect if it has not been <br />reported in time. <br />3. Report defects in your equipment or vehicle on the established form. <br />4. Systematic maintenance of your equipment or vehicle is part of safety in the workplace. Do <br />not overlook this. <br />5. Use and make sure others use safety belts in vehicles or equipment. <br />6. When you detect something in the equipment that might endanger the safety of others, report it <br />immediately. <br />7. Do not exceed the speed limit under any circumstances. <br />8. The Company will not pay speeding tickets, fines for running red lights, for not yielding the <br />right of way, reckless driving, or not having a registration or insurance card, neither will it pay <br />for not having a fire extinguisher, first aid implements or others required by DOT regulations. <br />Compliance with these regulations is exclusively the driver's responsibility. <br />q.) PROCEDURE IN THE CASE OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS <br />1. Remain calm and do not argue with anyone. <br />2. Ask if anyone involved in the accident is injured or hurt and requires help. <br />3. Determine exactly where you are. <br />4. Call 911 to report the accident if there is an injury or the pertinent police department for non- <br />injury accidents. If you do not have a phone, inform your supervisor so that he can do this. <br />5. Call your supervisor to report what has occurred. <br />6. Concentrate when explaining what happened to the police officer. <br />7. Use neutral language when giving explanations to the police officer to convey that you are <br />telling the truth and respect the police officer's authority. <br />8. Do not make deals or agree to anything, even if you are not at fault and have not sustained <br />damage. <br />9. If someone is hurt or injured, help that person to the best of your ability, but do not move the <br />person unless it is to save the person's life, as in the case of fire or danger of explosion. <br />10. If possible, depending on circumstances, write down the names of all passengers. <br />11. Check to see if there were any witnesses and if possible get their names and telephone <br />numbers. <br />12. Make a note of the damage to all vehicles involved in the accident. If possible get the license <br />plate number, make, model and year of each of the vehicles. Try to make a diagram of the <br />accident. Write down the information regarding the jurisdiction of the police patrol that came <br />to the accident, also write down the number of the police patrol car. <br />13. If the police officer does not give you a copy of the preliminary police report, ask for the case <br />number and make a note of it. <br />14.
