� Y OF SUN P'r <br />1.8.1 LAWN (St. Augustine) <br />Apply four applications per year at quarterly intervals in February, May, August, <br />and November. Lawn fertilizer shall be in granular form and have a 3-1-2, 4-1-3 <br />(ie; 12-6-8 or 16-4-8) or similar ratio of N, P, and K with at least 50% of the <br />nitrogen in the insoluble or slow-release form. Fertilizer mix shall also contain iron <br />(at least 0.5%) and other micronutrients such as magnesium, manganese, and <br />zinc. A lower nitrogen product can be used during the summer months so as not <br />to substantially increase growth rates. "Weed and Feed" products containing <br />Atrazine herbicide may be used in cooler months. Products should be applied at <br />the rate of 1 pound of actual nitrogen per 1,000 square feet of lawn area. <br />Contractor is responsible to follow manufacturer's recommendations for <br />fertilization rates and quantities. <br />1.8.2 TREES <br />Apply two applications per year in spring and fall of 8-2-12 granular fertilizer or <br />approved equal unless soil conditions or plant species dictate differently. Apply 1/2 <br />pound per foot of canopy diameter or 1/2 pound per inch of trunk diameter at <br />breast height, not to exceed 8 to 10 pounds per tree. Contractor is responsible to <br />follow manufacturer's recommendations for fertilization rates and quantities. <br />1.8.3 SHRUBS AND GROUNDCOVER <br />Apply four applications per year at quarterly intervals. Flowering shrubs are to <br />receive applications of granular 8-10-10 SCU with micro -nutrients supplemented <br />with liquid 16-4-8 with micro -nutrients unless soil conditions or plant species <br />dictate differently. Non -flowering shrubs are to receive applications of granular <br />and liquid 16-4-8 with micro -nutrients. All Ixora species shall receive TRI-NITE <br />(or equivalent) w/minor elements fertilizer. Contractor is responsible to follow <br />manufacturer's recommendations for fertilization rates and quantities. <br />Due to lack of above ground irrigation on Collins Avenue median, plant material is <br />to receive four applications per year (Every three months) of liquid 16-4-8 with <br />micro -nutrients (no granular fertilizer is to be used). <br />1.8.4 SEASONAL COLOR <br />Apply one initial and one "mid-term" application of Nutricote total seventy (70) day <br />13-3-13 fertilizer for each seasonal color planting. <br />Apply Snapshot pre -emergent herbicide to seasonal color planting bed at each <br />seasonal color change. <br />1.8.5 PALMS <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach I ITB 20-08-01 Right -of -Ways and Facilities Landscape Maintenance Services <br />
