• Improvements and enhancements to existing focal points to <br />create an attractive community and a sense of place. <br />Demonstrate to the general public that public art can have a <br />visible and immediate impact on the cityscape. <br />Acknowledging the history of the area known as Sunny Isles and how it has <br />evolved into a highly urban contemporary small city as well as to the City's <br />declared desire to promote a family -friendly vibrant, creative environment <br />with an eye toward community bridge -building, the PAAC recognizes a <br />complex interaction among a built -out the environment, diversity of <br />backgrounds and the promotion of playful human experience and increased <br />civic involvement. <br />For these reasons, the City will consider a host of experimental, interactive <br />and other creative experiences, inviting public art initiatives of any kind and <br />nature (traditional or otherwise), that would represent a wise investment of <br />the City's resources.3 <br />Recommendations for the selection of Public Art will be based on the <br />following guidelines, as they may be amended from time to time. <br />What artistic merit does the art have and how is this accomplished? Is <br />there an inherent quality and sense of excellence? <br />How does the project foster the overall goals of the Cultural Master <br />Plan? Does it accomplish the purpose of this Program? Does it interpret <br />the City's civic and architectural traditions with a contemporary voice? <br />Relevance and overall positive impact of the Public Art under <br />consideration to the City, including its values, culture, and people. <br />Consideration will be given to whether it has historical value, addresses <br />s This will not be to the exclusion of tradition monuments or statuary but it may encompass more innovative <br />concepts, projects and programs. <br />2 <br />
