<br />CTA Project No. 19-0035-001-01 01100-2 Golden Shores Street Lighting <br />October 12, 2020 SIB Bid No. 20-09-01 <br />1.04 WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION AND EROSION CONTROL <br />A. When required to dispose of water from dewatering and other operations, CONTRACTOR <br />shall obtain and pay for all necessary permits, shall take all actions necessary to prevent <br />contamination of or disturbance to the environment or natural habitat of the properties <br />adjacent to the site, and shall comply with all permit requirements and restrictions as set by <br />the regulatory agencies having jurisdiction. CONTRACTOR shall schedule and control <br />operations so as to confine all runoff water from disturbed surfaces, water from dewatering <br />operations and water in existing ditches that becomes contaminated with lime silt, muck <br />and other deleterious matter from the construction operations. <br />B. CONTRACTOR shall provide all temporary materials and operations necessary to attain <br />the required pollution and erosion controls including, but not limited to, temporary seeding, <br />filter blankets, chemicals, temporary dikes and ditches, silt screens, fiber mats, mulches, <br />sod, bituminous spray and other erosion control devices. The pollution control procedures <br />shall include control of lime suspended in water which may flow into canals and ditches and <br />which may require the use of screens, filter blankets and coagulants within such ditches. <br />CONTRACTOR shall maintain all pollution and erosion prevention p rocedures, materials, <br />equipment and other related items in an approved condition until notified by the ENGINEER <br />to discontinue such maintenance. <br />C. Where necessary, CONTRACTOR shall channel runoff water from construction areas and <br />all water from dewatering operations into temporary stilling basins. <br />D. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish all labor and equipment and perform all work required <br />for the prevention of environmental pollution during and as a result of the work under this <br />contract. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for preparing and complying with the <br />requirements of the National Pollution Prevention Discharge Elimination System <br />(NPDES) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), including preparation of <br />Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPP P) and submittal of the Notice of Intent <br />(NOI) prior to start of construction and submittal of Notice of Termination (NOT) after <br />final project certification and approval. For the purpose of this contract environmental <br />pollution is defined as the presence of chemical, physical, or biological elements or <br />agents which adversely affect human health or welfare; unfavorably alter ecological <br />balances of importance to human life, affect other species of importance to man, or <br />degrade the utility of the environment for aesthetic and recreational purposes. The <br />control of environmental pollution requires consideration of air, water, land and involves <br />noise, solid waste management and management of radiant energy and radioactive <br />materials, as well as other pollutants. <br />1.05 COORDINATION WITH TRAFFIC CONTROL AGENCIES <br />A. CONTRACTOR shall perform the construction work with minimum interruption of traffic <br />movement on existing streets and roadways. In order to limit such interruption, <br />CONTRACTOR shall coordinate the work with all agencies having jurisdiction and <br />schedule the work so that interruptions are held to a minimum. <br />B. In the work schedule submittals, CONTRACTOR shall provide documentation of the <br />CONTRACTOR's coordination with such agencies and shall not deviate from the approved <br />schedule without prior approval. CONTRACTOR shall provide proper maintenance and <br />control of all traffic in the areas of construction during the course of construction and shall <br />furnish and maintain all required traffic control signs and devices, barricades, safety cones, <br />flashers, flambeaus and similar devices.
