Street Closure: If closure of any street is required during construction, a formal <br />application for a street closure shall be made to the authority having jurisdiction at least <br />30 days prior to the required street closure in order to determine neces sary sign and <br />detour requirements. <br />1.03 CONTRACTOR'S WORK AND STORAGE AREA <br />A. If the CONTRACTOR requires a staging area, the CONTRACTOR s hall obtain such <br />areas from off-site sources. The CONTRACTOR shall pay for any off site area it <br />requires. <br />B. Responsibility for protection and safekeeping of equipment and materials at or near the <br />sites will be solely that of the CONTRACTOR and no claim shall be made against the <br />CITY by reasons of any act of an employee or trespasser. <br />C. Upon completion of the Contract, the CONTRACTOR shall remove from the storage <br />areas all of their equipment, temporary fencing, surplus materials, rubbish, etc., and <br />restore the areas. <br />1.04 STORED MATERIALS AND PAYMENT <br />A. CONTRACTOR is required to carry insurance policies to cover all materials and <br />equipment stored onsite or offsite. Coverage shall include physical loss or damage from <br />transit, fire, lightning, extended coverage, theft, vandalism and malicious mischief, <br />collapse, debris removal, demolition occasioned by enforcement of Laws and <br />Regulations, water damage, and such other perils or causes of loss. <br />B. Payment for materials or equipment stored onsite or offsite shall be permitted only with <br />the satisfactory physical delivery being confirmed by the Engineer, materials and <br />equipment are suitably stored in accordance with all manufacturer <br />recommendations/requirements, and shall be accompanied by a bill of sale, invoice, or <br />other documentation warranting that Owner has received the materials and equipment <br />free and clear of all Liens and evidence that the materials and equipment are covered by <br />appropriate property insurance or other arrangeme nts to protect Owner’s interest. <br />C. In the case of long lead items that need to be ordered and stored in advance of <br />construction work beginning, the CONTRACTOR shall notify the ENGINEER in writing of <br />the circumstances and provide a justification for storage and payment of equipment or <br />materials outside the approved sequence of work. <br />1.05 TRAFFIC CONTROL <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall maintain traffic and protect the public from all damage to <br />persons and property within the Contract Limits, in accordance with all applicable state, <br />local, and city regulations. The CONTRACTOR shall conduct its operations so as to <br />maintain and protect access, for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, to and from all <br />properties and business establishments and joining or adjacent to those streets affected <br />by its operations, and to subject the public to a minimum of delay and inconvenience. <br />Suitable signs, barricades, railing, etc., shall be erected and the Work outlined by <br />adequate lighting at night. Danger lights shall be provided as required. Watchmen and <br />flagmen shall be provided as may be necessary for the protection of traffic. <br />
