Field Measurements: Determine that the areas to receive the pave r fields are square or <br />built to designed angles or dimensions. Make LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT aware of <br />conflicts which will affect the appearance of the paver field or variations in cut angles <br />along paver edging. <br />1.08 TESTING <br />A. Provide an independent testing laboratory to test pavers proposed for installation. <br />1. Submit test results for review by the LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT. <br />2. Provide and pay for tests on Pre-Cast concrete pavers. <br />3. Provide and pay for density and compaction tests on limerock base. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.01 ACCEPTABLE PRODUCT/MATERIAL MANUFACTURERS <br />A. Pavers: General <br />1. Solid concrete conforming to ASTM C-936-82. <br />2. Portland cement conforming to ASTM C-150. <br />3. Compressive Strength: 8,000 psi minimum. <br />4. Abrasion Resistance: volume loss less than 0.915 in3 (15 cm3 per 50 cm3) in <br />accordance with Method C-418. <br />5. Absorption Rate: Maximum 5% <br />6. Acceptable manufacturers: <br />a. Manufacturer: See Drawings. <br />b. Color: See Drawings. <br />B. Sand Setting Bed <br />1. The Sand Setting Bed shall be a 1” inch well graded clean washed sharp sand <br />with 100% passing a 3/8" sieve size and a maximum of 3% passing a No. 200 <br />sieve size. This is commonly known as manufactured concrete sand, limestone <br />screening, or similar. <br />2. Mason sand is not acceptable. <br />C. Sand Joint Mixture <br />1. The sand joint mixture shall consist of clean, dry silica sand containing at least <br />30% of 1/8" (3 mm) particles.
