The <br />machine shall be maintained in an operative condition in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.602 (a) (9). <br />All equipment that has an obstructed view to the rear shall have a back up alarm. If the back up <br />alarm on a piece of equipment is nonfunctional then the operator needs a spotter on the ground to <br />assure that all is clear prior to backing up, until the alarm is fixed or replaced. 29CFR 1926.602(a) <br />(9) (ii) <br />Drinking Water <br />An adequate supply of potable water shall be provided in all places of employment. <br />Potable water containers to dispense drinking water shall be capable of being tightly closed, and <br />equipped with a tap. Water shall not be dipped from containers. All water containers shall be marked <br />as to the nature of its contents and is not to be used for any other purpose. Everyone is to drink from <br />their own cup. The common drinking cup is prohibited. Where single service cups are supplied both <br />a sanitary container for the unused and a receptacle for the used cups shall be provided. Every <br />supervisor shall have a water jug on their truck which they are responsible to keep full of water and <br />keep clean. 29CFR 1926.51(a) -1926.51(a) (5) <br />Dust Control <br />Dust control shall be done by the use of a water truck, water buffalo, hose, hydro seeding, etc. <br />Cell Phones <br />R & D Electric,lnc does not allow the use of personal cell phones on the job site. All personal cell <br />phones should be left in your vehicle. The time to make personal calls is during your lunch period, <br />not during work hours. It is dangerous to operate equipment while talking on the phone. All your <br />attention should be on running the equipment safely. It is just as unsafe to be on the phone while <br />you are on the ground with equipment moving around you. In the case of an emergency that your <br />family needs to get a hold of you they can call the office and the office can then call your supervisor <br />to let you know. This should only be done in the case of an emergency. <br />Confined Space/Permit Required Confined Space <br />A confined space is defined by O.S.H.A. as large enough for an employee to enter fully and perform <br />assigned work. It's not designed for occupancy by the employee and has a limited or restricted <br />means of entry or exit. <br />A confined space shall first be evaluated to determine if it is considered to be a permit required <br />confined space or not. This shall be done by either the safety officer or the competent person on the <br />job. If it is considered to be a permit required confined space entry then a permit shall be filled out <br />and all requirements under O.S.H.A. standards 29CFR 1910.146 as well as 1926.956(a)(3) will be <br />followed. <br />
