RFQ No. 20-10-01 Professional Engineering and Architectural Services for Pedestrian Bridge with Park Elements Across A1A at 174th St. CCNA
City of Sunny Isles Beach
|71
QUALIFICATION INFORMATION & ASSIGNED PERSONNEL
The $7.2M new Capital Cascades Crossing Pedestrian Bridge spans over Tallahassee Florida’s bustling South Monroe Street connecting Cascades
Park with the Capital Cascades Trail. This project includes a post-tensioned concrete bridge deck supported by steel pipe pier posts in addition to the
multi-use trail that connects to Capital Cascades Park. The 150’ Pedestrian bridge spans over SR 61 and is painted white with a blue stain accenting the
underside of the bridge. As the first solar powered pedestrian bridge in the world, the structure provides a safeguard for pedestrians commuting to and
from Cascades Park, a park coveted by many as one of the crown jewels of the Tallahassee community. The bridge’s design focuses on aesthetics and
presented many challenges for construction. FINLEY developed a unique temporary support system for the superstructure precast girder sections that
allowed the four slanted steel pipe columns to remain in position while the deck was supported and post-tensioned. This unique system then allowed
for the transfer of the deck to the four slanted columns acting as the permanent interior piers. For this project, FINLEY provided Construction Engineering
services including, Erection Manual, Falsework Design and Geometry Control.
Relevance: This pedestrian bridge project proves the importance of incorporating the Means and Methods during the design phase to minimize
the modifications during construction. Design the bridge for how it will be constructed. Cost: $7.2M
F.
